When Should You Start Wedding Dress Shopping at Only Love?

When Should You Start Wedding Dress Shopping at Only Love?

One of the most common questions brides ask is: “When should I start looking for my wedding dress?”

At Only Love, we recommend starting your dress journey around 3–4 months before your wedding date. This gives you enough time to browse, try on different styles, choose your dress, and arrange any necessary fittings or alterations without feeling too rushed.

If you are considering a custom-made or pre-order wedding dress, we recommend starting earlier where possible. Custom-made gowns may need extra time for design confirmation, measurements, production, delivery, fittings, and final adjustments.

Why 3–4 Months Is a Good Timeline

Starting 4–6 months before your wedding gives you time to:

  • Explore different bridal styles
  • Try on dresses calmly
  • Choose the right fit for your body
  • Plan small adjustments or alterations
  • Finalise your complete bridal look

This timeline is especially helpful if you are choosing from our available in-store gowns, rental options, ready-to-wear dresses, or selected pre-order styles.

What If You Need a Custom-Made Dress?

For custom-made bridal gowns, we recommend starting as early as possible, ideally 4–6 months before your wedding.

This allows time for:

  • Design discussion
  • Measurements
  • Fabric and style confirmation
  • Production time
  • Delivery or collection
  • Fittings and alterations
  • Final adjustments before the wedding

Custom-made dresses require more planning than ready-to-wear gowns, so the earlier you start, the smoother the process will be.

What If Your Wedding Is Sooner?

If your wedding is less than 3 months away, we may still be able to assist depending on what is available in-store.

For shorter timelines, we recommend being flexible with your dress choice, size, colour, and alteration needs. Our team will guide you toward options that are realistic for your date.
